Description

Keizersgracht 339

Unique and high-end canal house of approx. 337 m2 with all the luxury and allure that one would desire in the 21st century. Located on one of the most beautiful parts of the Keizersgracht.
The entire property was extensively renovated only three years ago and is now climate neutral, gas free. The splendid architectural design ensured that no expenses were spared and the property even includes all imaginable yet concealed mod-cons.
During the renovation an 18th century water cellar was discovered, which was turned into a wine cellar.
With great respect for the historic character of the building, the magnificent authentic details are now combined with modern luxury and state-of-the-art technology.
The unique canal house now includes a glass elevator leading to all five floors, the latest home automation systems and all rooms can be individually cooled, heated and ventilated. The heat pump and solar panels make this property the first climate-neutral listed building that is entirely ready for the future.
Naturally, the renovation works also includes a new foundation.

This canal house was built in 1657, commissioned by a merchant, and has housed various residents and purposes ever since. One of its prominent residents was Ambrosius Perling, a master calligrapher whose work is displayed in the Rijksmuseum. When the current owner bought the property in 2015, he initially planned some less drastic rebuilding works to combine the 4 separate apartments into one home. Eventually, the architect was asked to design the building in such a way that it will be ready for at least the next 100 years. The entire process of obtaining the required permits and the renovation lasted no less than three years, from November 2015 to the completion in September 2018. And the result is more than impressive in every way!

The current layout has resulted in a large and modern open-plan kitchen with an adjacent dining area. The glass conservatory, with sliding doors across its entire width, leads to the sunny and deep rainproof, southeast-facing garden. The classic-style summer house in the garden includes a pantry.

On the entry level floor, you will find an impressive living room at the back, with a ceiling height ranging from 4 to almost 7 metres. The fireplace and the quintessential high windows add to the allure and the comfortable atmosphere. Another large room at the front of this floor is currently used as a home office where the magnificent views of the Keizersgracht are another wow factor.

The basement includes a wine cellar, a laundry room, and lots of storage space.

The upper floors offer 3 generously sized bedrooms, all with a bioethanol-fuelled fireplace, and 2 bathrooms. All floors are accessible with the modern glass elevator.

Two parking spaces are available within a 5-minute walk.
